Giraffes Can't Dance
Hey
Guys! Keelan here with my first book entry. I read this book a few weeks ago and thought it would be great to include in our blog.
Giraffes
Cant dance is a story of a Giraffe called Gerald, who did not possess the
ability to dance. He faces a number of trails and tribulations and is looked
down upon by other animals. When Gerald gains some important advice from a
friendly cricket, he luck turns around as he has gained the ability to dance by
finding his own unique tune.
This
picture book is written in rhyme as much of the narrative flows on from line to
line. It would be a great resource to share with younger children from
reception to year three as they would appreciate the symbolism along with the
amusing illustrations imaginative approach to telling the story. There are some
clear messages within the text such as acceptance, diversity, determination,
persistence and facing your challenges and dilemmas. Younger students would
pick up on these central themes and would have a clear understanding of what
the text is trying to say. Everyone is different; however, when believing that
you can do something, it can come true.
